GROW WITH US!

Our name and our commitment to Vinton and Benton County were established in 1923 when Virginia Walcott Gay made a gift to the people of Vinton that would be valued at $1 Million in today’s dollars. It was a generous gift, made more remarkable because Virginia had moved back to her native Ohio some 30 years before her death. Her only wishes were that the hospital is named after her and that it would always remain focused on making Virginia Gay's patient's healthier and happier.

As you explore the opportunities we have to offer,

we encourage you to think of how high your professional abilities and experiences could go into an environment like ours. You’ll read about nurses who have gained valuable certifications, some that have moved up every step in the ladder from CNA, LPN, RN, Nurse Practioner and more.

Their growth was made possible in part by using a wider variety of nursing skill than they could have received in almost any other environment. We hope you will choose to grow with us.

WHY CHOOSE VGH?

Virginia Gay Hospital and Clinics is a great place to use all the skills you have today while exploring new options for professional growth.

TAMMY HICOK,

Director of Clinic Operations

“I think the best thing about working at VGH is the small town, friendly care we provide. We often care for entire families, from great-grandparents in the senior years of life down to the new born great-grandchild just getting their start.”

TINA EDEN,

Director of Nursing

“When patients come back to Virginia Gay they often ask for our nurses by name and remember past experiences with them. It's a completely different experience than being a nurse in a large hospital.”

LEARN MORE ABOUT US AND ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITIES TO GROW AT VGH.

“My success as a nurse has been derived from working with a group of co-workers that not only care about our patients, but about their fellow team members as well. Virginia Gay Hospital has become a second home; this is something that is often lost in bigger healthcare organizations as employees are treated as a number. My success has been a personal quest of what I can give back to my other home, as know as Acute Care at VGH.”

Valerie Snyder

"Since starting here almost five years ago, my confidence as a nurse has grown. The variety of departments I have worked in has given me great knowledge and experience. Currently, I work full time as an RN in the Vinton Family Medical Clinic and as needed in the hospital. I love the variety of patient care I am able to provide. The best part of working at Virginia Gay Hospital is that it is such a tight-knit community, which allows me to really get to know patients and helps me provide them with quality care."

Kelli Schmadeke

"I worked as a CNA as a senior in high school and while attending Mt. Mercy University. I initially started out at Virginia Gay Hospital, but moved to the Atkins clinic just a few months later and have never regretted it. I am the Vaccines for Children Coordinator for the Atkins Family Medical Clinic and have a strong passion for protecting our patients from these preventable diseases."
