Psychiatric ARNP: Vinton Family Medical Clinic

Virginia Gay Hospital is seeking to add an additional Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner to provide mental health services to patients including therapy, social rehabilitation, crisis intervention and outreach services as our organization expands our current behavioral health services in a family medical clinic setting. • This is an all outpatient opening and you would need to be comfortable in seeing patients of all ages and life stages. You would be involved with initial assessments, medication checks and working with the integrative team to ensure the care of the patient is met. • The successful candidate will be building relationships and helping mental health patients and their families in and around our rural community. The main job function will be to assess patients and develop individualized plans of care, medication checks/management and working with the family medical clinic team to ensure the care of the patient is met. They may also provide therapy or counseling services to patients, as well as help family members learn to deal with mental illness in the family. • Colleagues within the family health clinic include a team of physicians, physician assistants, Nurse Practitioner, CMAs, LPNs, and RNs.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Psychiatric nurse practitioners typically conduct interviews in order to determine the appropriate services to offer mental health patients and their families. They develop care plans that include counseling, support services, treatment methods and referrals, as well as periodically review their patient and patient family situations and make changes to the care plans as necessary. • Typical job duties include explaining treatment plans to patients and their families, maintaining patient records, preparing reports, monitoring progress toward treatment goals and conducting annual reviews of active treatment plans. • Psychiatric nurse practitioners may also offer individual and group therapy sessions to patients, instruct other mental health staff in therapeutic techniques, provide crisis interventions, arrange for services from referral agencies and help patients ease back into the community after leaving inpatient programs.

QUALIFICATIONS: Must be AANP or ANCC certified with current licensure. Must have valid DEA and CSA registration.  You will be responsible for doing medication management related to the diseases that you manage. • An ARNP without training as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner will not be accepted as a candidate for this position. • Virginia Gay Hospital offers a competitive salary and benefits package including paid time off, health, dental, and life insurance, 403(b).

Sound clinical judgment in assessing and observing residents, interpreting signs and symptoms and in initiating action and intervention must also be demonstrated. 

 

The right candidate is skilled, organized and efficient in performing required nursing activities. EDUCATION & TRAINING REQUIREMENTS: LPNs and RNs must have graduated from a state approved nursing program and hold current Iowa licensure. All must maintain current BCLS certification. WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:  Must have the ability to demonstrate self-confidence and positive attitude toward self and others. As a member of the Virginia Gay Nursing & Rehab health care team, the CNA position has been designed to assist in the delivery of basic nursing care to residents under the direct supervision of an RN/LPN. The right candidate will communicate effectively with residents, visitors and other members of the health care team through verbal, non-verbal and written communication. They will follow residents individually developed care plans and respond to crisis/emergency situations in a calm, helpful manner. EDUCATION & TRAINING REQUIREMENTS: Current CNA certification or enrolled in an approved certification CNA program. Surgical Tech (OR/CS Aide)

As a member of the Virginia Gay Hospital health care team, a Surgical Tech (OR/CS Aide) is responsible for functioning as a scrub person and is specifically trained according to standards set forth by the Association of Operating Room Nurses.  A Surgical Tech (OR/CS Aide) is present at every surgical case. Duties to include working in the operating room, endoscopy room, cysto room, and central service; working with sterilizers, instruments, OR supplies, surgical patients, and various chemicals as well as working with surgeons/physicians of different specialties and other members of the OR staff. Possess good communication and interpersonal skills. Interact with patients, residents, families, visitors, co-workers, physicians, and supervisors in positive, cooperative, and supportive ways.  EDUCATION & TRAINING REQUIREMENTS: High School graduate or GED equivalent.
